OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training

Your safety is our number one goal

OSHA statistics show that every year employees from all kinds of industries are being injured through accidents. These accidents can be prevented with little basic training in health and safety matters. Training employees in health and safety matters in the workplace may seem to be time consuming and expensive but investing in your workforce and their safety is an important outlay.

The 10-Hour Construction Industry program provides entry level construction workers information about rights and employer responsibilities. The training covers how to file a complaint. It also teaches how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a construction site.
This program has six mandatory hours. An Introduction to OSHA course lasts one hour. OSHA’s required training content for this module covers workers’ rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint.
The next course, OSHA Focus Four Hazards, lasts four hours. The instructor will cover falls for at least one hour and 30 minutes, since fall hazards cause most construction fatalities. The remaining three Focus Four Hazard topics will last at least 30 minutes each. The topics are Electrocution, Struck-By (e.g., falling objects, trucks, cranes), and Caught-In or Between (e.g., trench hazards, equipment).
The next 30-minute course covers Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment.
The final mandatory topic is Health Hazards in Construction, and it also will last 30 minutes. The instructor may teach noise, hazard communication, crystalline silica, or any other construction health hazard in this time.

10 Hour Construction Elective Topics

The instructor will then spend at least two hours on the following elective topics, and will present at least two topics total. The instructor must present on each topic for a minimum 30 minutes. One possible elective topic is Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators, and Conveyors. Other options include Excavations, Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal, Scaffolds, Stairways and Ladders, and Hand/Power Tools.
The instructor can teach other construction industry hazards or policies for the course’s final two hours. They can also expand on the mandatory or elective topics, for at least 30 minutes per topic. After completion of the course, you will receive, within 4 weeks, your OSHA 10 hour construction wallet size card from the Department of Labor.
